Still Running EC2 Classic Instances? Are They Losing Their Elastic IPs When Parked?

If you're one of the many customers we have encountered who are still running EC2 Classic instances (instances not in a VPC), then chances are you have noticed that when you stop those instances, they lose their Elastic IP address.

This doesn't happen with VPC instances, but migrating all the instances over to VPC's is quite an undertaking.

Is there something you can do in the mean time?  If you are running Ubuntu servers, then YES!
